The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his speech on Saturday night after presenting 2012 and 2013 Karnataka state film awards announced 100 acres of land for Film City at Immavu in Mysooru – the boundary of this ‘Chitra Nagari’ belongs to home town of Siddaramaiah.

The city of Palaces can boast of Film City in the coming years. Immavu is a small Village/hamlet in Nanjangud Taluk in Mysore District of Karnataka State, India. It comes under Immavu Panchayath. It belongs to Mysore Division . It is located 25 KM towards South from District head quarters Mysore. 160 KM from State capital Bangalore

Immavu is surrounded by Mysore Taluk towards North , Tirumakudal-Narsipur Taluk towards East , Shrirangapattana Taluk towards North , Gundlupet Taluk towards South .

Nanjangud , Mysore , Shrirangapattana , Gundlupet are the nearby Cities to Immavu.

So it is finally from Hesaraghatta to Immavu in Mysore for Film City of Kannada filmdom. That also means 30 years the Kannada cinema industry has not been able to take control of 300 plus acres allotted by former Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde in mid 80’s.

One hopes it is not land grabbing at Bengaluru Hesaraghatta in the wake of shift of film city to Mysooru.
